- The award is presented by the Catalan Association of Sommeliers during the Sommeliers’ Night at the Barcelona Wine Week.
As part of the Barcelona Wine Week, we received the award presented by the Catalan Association of Sommeliers for “Best Solidarity Initiative in the World of Wine” for our social inclusion project.
Our identity is based on including people at risk of social exclusion in production processes, driven by the belief that creating job opportunities for everyone is compatible with producing high-quality products. That is why, while offering a paid job, we also provide support in acquiring socio-labor habits and training in specific fields to facilitate successful integration into the regular job market. Currently, we support 25 people in tasks related to agriculture, product production, sales, and hospitality.
The vice president of the Catalan Association of Sommeliers, Victòria Ibáñez, presented the award to the president of L’Olivera, Maria Dolors Llonch, during the gala dinner at the Sommeliers’ Night. Upon receiving the award, Llonch highlighted that “ L’Olivera is an utopia that always puts people at the center, which is why we seek work models that humanize and build community. We are both root and seed of a “culture of the margins” that advocates for a positive relationship with the land and its people. ”.
In this spirit, and as part of the Barcelona Wine Week, we participated in the talk “History and Uniqueness: Recovered Native Varieties in Catalonia” to highlight the project for the recovery of the Trobat grape variety. This initiative is carried out collaboratively with other wineries, once again reflecting both our way of working and the value of exchange between people and projects.
The Catalan Association of Sommeliers also awarded Restaurant Disfrutar as Best Restaurant Service, Oller del Mas Winery for Best Wine Tourism Offer, Empar Moliner as Best Wine Communicator, Ignasi Pinedo with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Pedro Ballesteros as an Honorary Member of the Catalan Association of Sommeliers.
