From June 13 to 15, L’Olivera took part in the Annual Conference of the Urban Vineyard Association in Catania to share experiences on the role of peri-urban vineyards. The event brought together winegrowers and winery representatives from cities such as Paris, Venice, London, Turin, Vienna, Barcelona, Bolzano, Palermo and Catania.
Within the framework of the conference, the first version of the Urban Vineyard Atlas was presented— a study that has identified up to 126 urban vineyards in 78 different cities around the world—along with the Urban Wine Catalogue, which includes 28 wines from 14 wineries and producers.
In addition, unique experiences were shared, such as linking vineyards with projects focused on emotional well-being and social improvement, like the Forty Hall vineyard in Enfield; territorial coordination with agricultural movements in Brasília; the fight against gentrification in Venice; and technological innovation and research collaboration at the Polytechnic University of Turin.
L’Olivera is currently a member of the board of the Urban Vineyard Association, which has around twenty members across four different continents.
