- Blanc de Serè, Agaliu and L’Olivera Reserva have been awarded in this international competition
During the month of June, L’Olivera was recognized at the World Wine Awards, one of the largest and most influential wine competitions in the world, with its wines Blanc de Serè, Agaliu and L’Olivera Reserva. Specifically, Blanc de Serè (2023) received a Silver Medal with a score of 91 points; Agaliu (2023) received a Silver Medal with 90 points; and L’Olivera Reserva (2023) received a Bronze Medal with 89 points.
“We are very pleased to receive this international recognition. With each vintage, we strive to improve the formula, the winemaking process, and the presentation to produce the best possible product in a way that respects both people and the planet,” says Clara Griera, Head of the Winery. As part of the competition, the jury blind-tasted more than 18,000 wines from 57 different countries—the highest number in the competition’s history to date.
The three award-winning wines are made from the Macabeu variety, belong to the Costers del Segre Designation of Origin, and are L’Olivera’s three most internationally recognised wines. In this sense, L’Olivera has worked with Macabeu fermentation in three distinct ways for each of them:
- Firstly, Blanc de Serè is a complex wine with tropical fruit notes on the nose; on the palate, it is fresh with floral notes.
- Secondly, Agaliu is an oak-aged white wine with aromas of fresh fruit and citrus; it is balanced and refined on the palate, with good acidity.
- Thirdly, L’Olivera Reserva is a sparkling wine made using the traditional method, with a minimum of fifteen months of aging. The result is a long, creamy wine, fruity on the nose with brioche notes in the background.
