The first Nit de l’Oli, organized by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, recognized 83 productions, with Finques receiving multiple awards: Best Green Fruity Oil, Best Arbequina Single-Varietal, and Best Organic Production.
L’Oli Finques, produced at L’Olivera for over 20 years, has been awarded Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Catalonia at the first edition of the Nit de l’Oli, a competition organized by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
With this recognition, Finques leads the list of 83 awarded productions across 14 categories, also earning a triple award: Best Intensely Fruity Green Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Small Producers, Best Organic Production, and Best Arbequina Single-Varietal Olive Oil.
La Fatarella hosted the first edition of the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Catalonia Awards last Friday, bringing together around 350 people from the Catalan olive oil sector, as well as regional and local institutions. The event was presided over by the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, alongside the Mayor of La Fatarella, Jordi Rius.

The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, stated that these awards will contribute to the creation of the first guide to the best olive oils in Catalonia, aiming to invigorate the sector and elevate it to excellence. He also emphasized that the competition seeks to promote extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) in the restaurant industry, media, and among consumers.
“To increase pride and self-esteem for a product that has it all,” he remarked.
The first edition of these awards is part of the 2025 celebration of Catalonia as the World Region of Gastronomy and featured prestigious highlights:
The tables were named after different olive varieties grown in the country.
The menu was crafted by a Michelin-starred chef from Terres de l’Ebre, using local products.
The farmers, who carefully tend to the olive trees to produce high-quality oils, were at the heart of the event.
